Fall 2010 Color Trend: Purple and Brown

{Amanda Nisbet}

As the Fall 2010 colors begin to emerge, the autumn-inspired palette of purple and brown is definitely a trend to watch.  As you know, purple is my fave and I’m also glad to see that brown is still hot.

I’m also loving the different variations:  lavender, taupe, plum, chocolate, periwinkle, espresso, violet, mocha…

Sizzling Summer Giveaway!

CONTEST CLOSED

I’m so excited to announce a colorful summer giveaway, and it’s pretty hot!

For this giveaway, I’ve teamed-up with Blissliving Home, the super-stylish lifestyle brand that’s all about ‘modern design with a global influence.’  Established in 2007 by Creator & CEO Mei Xu, Blissliving Home has become a trendsetter in the home lifestyle industry, and they are leading the way in the red-hot global design trend.  I love how their products emphasize bold patterns and vivid colors, especially the pillows…and one lucky winner will get two pretty pillows in this giveaway!

The 12″ x 12″ turquoise Mallory pillow has a classic flower embroidery and feather down insert.

The 12″ x 20″ pink and green Garden pillow is trimmed in both linen and satin, and also has a feather down insert.  This pillow reverses to a solid berry pink.

The winner will receive both pillows!

Here’s how to enter: Go to Blissliving Home.com and take a look at their products {you’ll find gorgeous bedding, bath and home decor items; the Fall 2010 catalog is amazing!}.  Then, come back here and leave a comment on this post about any item you liked.

Additional Entry – Join Color Sizzle with Google Friend Connect {see the left sidebar}.  Then, leave a second comment stating that you have done this.  If you already joined previous to this giveaway, your second comment should state that you’ve already joined the ‘Colorful People.’

Each entry needs its own comment! Please note there may be a time-delay in seeing your posted comments.

Hurry! Contest ends Friday, July 23 at 12:00 noon, EST. The winner will be chosen using Random.org. Winner will be announced July 24 in a post on this blog.  The winner will have 72 hours to respond, but if fails to do so, a new winner will be selected.

Bohemian Hues and Global Textiles

Be sure to read my Living Style column this month over at Sherwin-Williams’ STIR.

{tessera}

My latest story explores global-ethnic influences on the Bohemian design style, and I had the pleasure of interviewing two colorful and inspiring entrepreneurs:

{tessera}

Cristi Ambroson, owns Houston-based Tessera. Cristi regularly travels to Central Asia {and Peru} to hand-pick items for her business which includes textiles, such as suzanis and ikats, from Uzbekistan.

{tessera}

Based in London, Eva Sonaike owns a home furnishings label that bears her name.  Eva sells luxury cushions and other unique items made with textiles from her native country of Nigeria.

Global-ethnic textiles are becoming very popular.  They’re more widely available these days, and that’s having a huge impact on interior and fashion design.  More people are becoming familiar with and inspired by the colors, patterns and history of these amazing fabrics.

Bathroom With A View

I snapped this photo of my bathroom window to show how outdoor landscaping decisions can affect indoor spaces.

It took a few years, but our Crape Myrtles have grown tall enough to provide us with privacy and an amazing view of big, beautiful  blossoms all summer long.

The sight of seasonal color can do wonders.  Those mornings when I have to drag myself out of bed and into the shower, its really nice to glance out the window and see pretty pink flowers waving in the wind.  It pays to plant with a purpose!

COMING SOON:  An exciting, colorful Giveaway that’s Hotter than July!  Stay tuned!!
