Colors To Watch In 2011 – Part 1
Honeysuckle has been declared the ‘It’ Color for 2011 by the folks at Pantone…
…but I have four off-beat, edgy colors of my own that you’ll want to watch this year. In this post I’m sharing the first two:
Wasabi Green has been making a slow resurgence in the past few years — coming back from the ’60′s and ’70′s when it was called Avocado Green.

With our world becoming more environmentally conscious, the color green is being associated with organic and earth-friendly living. Many of us are going retro as we look back towards a simpler way of life. We’re finding terrific back-in-the-day finds on eBay, Etsy and in thrift stores, where Avocado Wasabi Green is bountiful.

Peacock Blue made a strong showing in late 2010 at New York Fashion Week. This gorgeous shade of blue varies in between vivid Turquoise and deep Teal. It definitely makes a bolder color statement as compared to the lighter tints of blue-green.

Peacock Blue also represents an exotic, global aspect of design that is becoming more mainstream as our world becomes ‘smaller.’

Sweet Christmas Color – Sugar Plum
Once again, this year I put up my little lilac Christmas tree {along with a few other purple things}.
If I could, I would decorate the whole house in shades of purple. Unfortunately, hubby and the boys {my three sons} would freak out, but I can still dream…with visions of sugar plums dancing in my head.
In the language of color, Sugar Plum is just a Christmasy name for purple. It’s sweet sound conjures up images of anything from deep grape and plum to mauve and lavender.
Below is the Sugar Plum-themed dining room of artist Jennifer Hayslip. I love how she mixed lavender with other sweet colors. This photo was taken a couple of years ago, but it’s such a timeless, vintage look that would look great right now.

This 18″ x 18″ feather down pillow is covered with glittering-silver print that reads “joy peace wish” in several languages. The silk ‘Wish’ band features embroidered lettering, including “Happy Holidays 2010″ on the back. Both items have a combined value of $70. I think this pillow makes a very stylish gift, but you may be tempted to keep it for yourself!
