A Real Accent {Wall}

Painted accent walls are a great way to glam up your space and create a colorful focal point. These days, the accent wall is taking on a different look. Yes, its still that one painted wall in an otherwise white-walled room. But it’s also the framed green wall in a blue room as in the picture above {pittsburghpaints.com}.

It could also be a vivid pink wall, divided by a white fireplace. Mmmm…or maybe its the fireplace wall that has become the feature {idealhome.com}.

And who says the accent wall can’t be a band of outrageous orange that wraps around the room? Painting just the top portion of your walls is a stylish way to introduce very bold colors into a space {dutchboy.com}

This bedroom is straight from the pages of Better Homes and Gardens. I love how the entire wall is not painted. Just painting a square around the bed gives this accent wall purpose, and avoids the appearance that the other three walls should have been painted, too.

A recessed area or niche always creates a natural place for accent color. This gorgeous teal wall {apartmenttherapy.com} creates a dramatic focal point. This deep color also prevents the dark sofa from becoming too visually heavy in the space. If you’re considering an accent wall in your home, go for bolder colors and think outside the box. Anything less, might just go unnoticed.
